She was 18 years old when she had her last professional portrait taken. Her children had always admired that portrait of her from those many years ago, and loved hearing the story of what she had experienced.
When I received the call that her kids wanted to celebrate her 80th birthday with a photoshoot, and relive that day by getting all glammed up, I was thrilled!!!
We all had a great time over tea, planning exactly what this elegant lady would like in her photos, by going over wardrobe, and discussing hair and makeup, with herself, one of her daughters, and a granddaughter.
I like to discover "who" my clients are, so I can can capture their personality, so I asked her daughter and granddaughter what they loved "best" about her.
Their words described her as being kind, graceful, wise, maternal, and a quintessential - which is representing the most perfect or typical example of quality or class. I have to say - I agree!!! It was my goal to capture these qualities with my camera.
In the weeks to come, she prepared for her photoshoot with the preparation I had given, and we picked and planned her wardrobe together.
The big day came to do her photoshoot, she had butterflies, she was so excited!

We started off by her being loved on, with hair and makeup done by my very qualified hair and makeup artist.

Meanwhile, my terrific assistant and I, made sure that everything was prepared in a way she would feel most blessed, along with some refreshments.

Her family was just as excited as she was to have this day, and different family members would pop by to watch. I would hear her girls saying things like, "I think I am going to cry". "Grandma, You are Beautiful!" "Wow , you look so good!" They cheered her on, and her eyes would just sparkle! I think I was as blessed as they were, hearing their words of love for her. What a gift!!
It was an amazing day!

I told them all what a wonderful treasure this was. This was something that stops time for always. A day that is captured for all history, long after she is gone. Her great great grandchildren will be able to look at these photos from today, and see and experience this day captured for all time.

Oh I love this family! Thank you for the honour of letting me capture and celebrate this moment in time of this gracious woman of 80.
